The 'Badem child' book series introduces basic information about diseases through stories. The objective of the 'Badem child' books is to eliminate the children's fear of hospitalsdoctors. They started with 'welcome Badem baby', 'Badem child at the dentist' and 'Badem child at the hospital' written by children’s book author Nur Ýçözü. Ýn 2005 four new books were added to the series.
Since April 23 2005, all the Badem child books can be found at the various book storesinformation departments of acýbadem healthcare hospitalspolyclinics. The revenue from the sales of the books provides scholarships for the students of the Acýbadem education healthcare foundation. Every book purchased supports the education of a needy student.
Here are the new badem child books:
Badem child at school: Badem child goes through a check-up at the beginning of school. The significance of health check-ups before starting school is emphasized. Besides providing information about vaccinations, examinations, the love of reading is intended for school beginners.
Badem child has a balanced diet: the book encourages a balanced diet for children. With this aim in mind, healthy eating habits are emphasized in the story. Moreover, it mentions the benefits of involvement in sports.
Badem child never says accidents are coming: in the story, while the preventive measures against accidents are specified, the importance of first-aid is also emphasized. The clues are given for the preventive measures to avoid accidentsthe early intervention methods during accidents.
Badem child's friend is sick: the story deals with the events following the hospitalization of one of badem child's friends. Ýnformation is given on the disease’s progress, treatmentrecovery stages. While the story concentrates on the friendship between the children, the book also helps to point out ways in which the children can support their sick friends.
